Hackers have targeted Facebook's estimated 400 million users with spam e-mail in an effort to steal banking passwords and gather other sensitive information.
The emails tell recipients that the passwords on their Facebook accounts have been reset, urging them to click on an attachment to obtain new login credentials. Once the attachment has been opened, malicious software could potentially access all username and password information used on a computer, not just on Facebook.
Facebook has responded saying they will never send users a new password in an attachment and urges users to not open the attachment and immediately delete the message, if up-to-date security software programs don't catch the message first.
