Florida Division of Corporations Scam

 The Florida Department of State Division of Corporations reports that there are two scams currently targeting Florida businesses. In one scam businesses receive emails from “Compliance Services” requesting “Annual Minutes” and a fee of $125.00. The Division of Corporations maintains that there is no requirement that businesses file annual minutes with any state agency.

 

The other entity, Florida Online Corporate Annual Report Filings is sending e-mail messages “inviting” businesses to file their annual report on a fraudulent Web site.

 

The Secure Florida team recommends that you always double-check the Web address of any site asking for any form of online payment. In this case, make sure you are dealing directly with the official Division of Corporations Web site (www.SunBiz.org).
